Executive Function & Study Skills
Helping your child focus, organise, and get things done — one step at a time.
Some children know what they need to do but can’t seem to start. Others start but can’t finish. Some lose everything, forget instructions the moment they hear them, or need to be told the same thing five times before it lands. This isn’t laziness or lack of ability — it’s executive function, and it’s one of the most common reasons capable children struggle at school.
This programme helps children build the practical skills that school assumes they already have: how to organise themselves, how to stay on task, how to break work into manageable pieces, and how to get started without needing someone standing over them.
Sessions are delivered in 4-week blocks within small groups and cost £120 per block. To get started, book an initial assessment and we’ll help you find the right fit for your child.
What We Focus On
- Getting started — helping your child learn to begin tasks on their own instead of staring at the page or waiting to be told exactly what to do
- Staying on track — building the ability to maintain focus and follow through to the end of a task without constant prompting
- Organisation and planning — practical strategies for keeping track of work, materials, and deadlines in a way that actually sticks
- Working memory — techniques to help your child hold and use information, follow multi-step instructions, and remember what they’ve been asked to do
- Building study routines — creating simple, repeatable habits that your child can use across all subjects and at home
How This Works
Sessions run in small groups in a calm, structured setting. Each 4-week block focuses on specific skills, with clear goals that we review with you at the end. Blocks build on each other, so your child can continue developing over time — this isn’t a quick fix, it’s about gradually building habits that become second nature.
We start every session by making sure your child is settled and ready to engage before any demands are placed on them. That foundation makes the difference between a child who’s physically present and one who’s actually learning.
If your child has an EHCP with targets related to independence, focus, or executive function, we can align sessions to support those outcomes.
Who This Is For
This programme is for children who:
- Struggle to start, stay on, or finish tasks without constant support
- Are disorganised — losing work, forgetting equipment, missing deadlines
- Find it hard to follow instructions, especially when there are multiple steps
- Need help building routines and habits for managing their own learning
- Are described as “capable but not reaching their potential” and need the right structure to unlock progress
